Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia FISH Probes

Acute promyelocytic leukemia is genetically characterized by the balanced translocation t(15;17) (q24;q21), which fuses the retinoic acid receptor alpha (RARA) gene and the promyelocytic leukemia (PML) gene. The fusion both represses myeloid differentiation, and promotes survival and proliferation of leukemic cells.
