CDKN2C FISH Probe

The CDKN2C FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the CDKN2C gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the INK4 family of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors. This protein has been shown to interact with CDK4 or CDK6, and prevent the activation of the CDK kinases, thus function as a cell growth regulator that controls cell cycle G1 progression. Ectopic expression of this gene was shown to suppress the growth of human cells in a manner that appears to correlate with the presence of a wild-type RB1 function. Studies in the knockout mice suggested the roles of this gene in regulating spermatogenesis, as well as in suppressing tumorigenesis. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene, which encode an identical protein, have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Chromosomal aberrations in chordoid meningioma—An analysis

Chordoid meningiomas are a rare tumors that have been found to have deletions such as 22q, 18p, 14q, and 1p. Although the deletions are known, their correlation to their clinical findings is not as well known FISH analysis was used with a variety of our probes to see which deletion(s) each case under study had. It was found that any recurrence of chordoid meningioma had all four chromosome loci deleted.
