EGR1/CSF1R FISH Probe

Our EGR1/CSF1R probe is designed to detect amplifications and deletions of both EGR1 and CSF1R. The probe comes labeled in green and orange, but can be customized to meet your needs.

Gene Background: Interstitial deletions of chromosome 5q are the most common chromosome abnormality in myelodysplastic syndrome, either alone or accompanied by other aberrations.1 MDS with isolated del(5q) predominantly affects middle-aged to older women.1 The size of the interstitial deletions on 5q varies, but the commonly deleted region involves a 1.5-Mb span extending from 5q31 to 5q32.2 Two minimally deleted regions have been identified on chromosome 5q: the first region occurs in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and high grade MDS and includes the early growth response 1 (EGR1) locus at 5q31, while the second region is centered around the colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) locus at 5q32.2

Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the EGR family of C2H2-type zinc-finger proteins. It is a nuclear protein and functions as a transcriptional regulator. The products of target genes it activates are required for differentitation and mitogenesis. Studies suggest this is a cancer suppressor gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]
