ADAMTS12-ZFR Fusion FISH Probe

The ADAMTS12-ZFR Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ADAMTS12 and ZFR genes. The fusion of the ADAMTS12 and ZFR genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ZFR Gene Summary

This gene encodes an RNA-binding protein characterized by its DZF (domain associated with zinc fingers) domain. The encoded protein may play a role in the nucleocytoplasmic shuttling of another RNA-binding protein, Staufen homolog 2, in neurons. Expression of this gene is regulated through alternative polyadenylation that mediates differential microRNA targeting. Elevated expression of this gene has been observed in human patients with pancreatic cancer and knockdown of this gene may result in reduced viability and invasion of pancreatic cancer cells. Gene Name: Zinc Finger RNA Binding Protein

Chromosome: CHR5: 32354455 -32444844

Locus: 5p13.3

ADAMTS12 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) protein family. Members of the family share several distinct protein modules, including a propeptide region, a metalloproteinase domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and a thrombospondin type 1 (TS-1) motif. Individual members of this family differ in the number of C-terminal TS-1 motifs, and some have unique C-terminal domains. The enzyme encoded by this gene contains eight TS-1 motifs. It may play roles in pulmonary cells during fetal development or in tumor processes through its proteolytic activity or as a molecule potentially involved in regulation of cell adhesion. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: ADAM Metallopeptidase With Thrombospondin Type 1 Motif 12

Chromosome: CHR5: 33527286 -33892124
