AP2M1-SEC63 Fusion FISH Probe

The AP2M1-SEC63 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the AP2M1 and SEC63 genes. The fusion of the AP2M1 and SEC63 genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma, and Thyroid Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

AP2M1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a subunit of the heterotetrameric coat assembly protein complex 2 (AP2), which belongs to the adaptor complexes medium subunits family. The encoded protein is required for the activity of a vacuolar ATPase, which is responsible for proton pumping occurring in the acidification of endosomes and lysosomes. The encoded protein may also play an important role in regulating the intracellular trafficking and function of CTLA-4 protein. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]

Gene Name: Adaptor Related Protein Complex 2 Mu 1 Subunit

Chromosome: CHR3: 183892633 -183901879

Locus: 3q27.1

SEC63 Gene Summary

The Sec61 complex is the central component of the protein translocation apparatus of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. The protein encoded by this gene and SEC62 protein are found to be associated with ribosome-free SEC61 complex. It is speculated that Sec61-Sec62-Sec63 may perform post-translational protein translocation into the ER. The Sec61-Sec62-Sec63 complex might also perform the backward transport of ER proteins that are subject to the ubiquitin-proteasome-dependent degradation pathway. The encoded protein is an integral membrane protein located in the rough ER. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: SEC63 Homolog, Protein Translocation Regulator
