COG4-VAC14 Fusion FISH Probe

The COG4-VAC14 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the COG4 and VAC14 genes. The fusion of the COG4 and VAC14 genes has been associated with Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

COG4 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a component of an oligomeric protein complex involved in the structure and function of the Golgi apparatus. Defects in this gene may be a cause of congenital disorder of glycosylation type IIj. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]

Gene Name: Component Of Oligomeric Golgi Complex 4

Chromosome: CHR16: 70514471 -70557457

Locus: 16q22.1

VAC14 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a scaffold protein that is a component of the PIKfyve protein kinase complex. This complex is responsible for the synthesis of phosphatidylinositol 3,5-bisphosphate, an important component of cellular membranes, from phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate. Mice lacking a functional copy of this gene exhibit severe neurodegeneration. Mutations in the human gene have been identified in patients with a childhood onset progressive neurological disorder characterized by impaired movement, dystonia, and striatal abnormalities. [provided by RefSeq, May 2017]

Gene Name: Vac14, PIKFYVE Complex Component

Chromosome: CHR16: 70721341 -70835061

Locus: 16q22.1-q22.2
