EEF1E1-EYS Fusion FISH Probe

The EEF1E1-EYS Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EEF1E1 and EYS genes. The fusion of the EEF1E1 and EYS genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

EEF1E1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a multifunctional protein that localizes to both the cytoplasm and nucleus. In the cytoplasm, the encoded protein is an auxiliary component of the macromolecular aminoacyl-tRNA synthase complex. However, its mouse homolog has been shown to translocate to the nucleus in response to DNA damage, and it plays a positive role in ATM/ATR-mediated p53 activation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Read-through transcription also exists between this gene and the neighboring downstream MUTED (muted homolog) gene. An EEF1E1-related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 2. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

Gene Name: Eukaryotic Translation Elongation Factor 1 Epsilon 1

Chromosome: CHR6: 8073592 -8102828

Locus: 6p24.3

EYS Gene Summary

The product of this gene contains multiple epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like and LamG domains. The protein is expressed in the photoreceptor layer of the retina, and the gene is mutated in autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]
