The GAS8-SPIRE2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GAS8 and SPIRE2 genes. The fusion of the GAS8 and SPIRE2 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

The second intron contains an apparently intronless gene, C16orf3, that is transcribed in the opposite orientation. This gene is a putative tumor suppressor gene.
