GATAD2B-GRM8 Fusion FISH Probe

The GATAD2B-GRM8 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GATAD2B and GRM8 genes. The fusion of the GATAD2B and GRM8 genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

GRM8 Gene Summary

L-glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. Glutamatergic neurotransmission is involved in most aspects of normal brain function and can be perturbed in many neuropathologic conditions. The metabotropic glutamate receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors, that have been divided into 3 groups on the basis of sequence homology, putative signal transduction mechanisms, and pharmacologic properties. Group I includes GRM1 and GRM5 and these receptors have been shown to activate phospholipase C. Group II includes GRM2 and GRM3 while Group III includes GRM4, GRM6, GRM7 and GRM8. Group II and III receptors are linked to the inhibition of the cyclic AMP cascade but differ in their agonist selectivities. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Glutamate Metabotropic Receptor 8

Chromosome: CHR7: 126078651 -126892428

Locus: 7q31.33

GATAD2B Gene Summary

This gene encodes a zinc finger protein transcriptional repressor. The encoded protein is part of the methyl-CpG-binding protein-1 complex, which represses gene expression by deacetylating methylated nucleosomes. Mutations in this gene are linked to intellectual disability and dysmorphic features associated with cognitive disability. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2016]

Gene Name: GATA Zinc Finger Domain Containing 2B

Chromosome: CHR1: 153777202 -153895451

Locus: 1q21.3
