GPC6-GPC5 Fusion FISH Probe

The GPC6-GPC5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GPC6 and GPC5 genes. The fusion of the GPC6 and GPC5 genes has been associated with Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma, Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma , Prostate Adenocarcinoma, Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Uterine Carcinosarcoma, and Cholangiocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GPC5 Gene Summary

Cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans are composed of a membrane-associated protein core substituted with a variable number of heparan sulfate chains. Members of the glypican-related integral membrane proteoglycan family (GRIPS) contain a core protein anchored to the cytoplasmic membrane via a glycosyl phosphatidylinositol linkage. These proteins may play a role in the control of cell division and growth regulation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Glypican 5

Chromosome: CHR13: 92050934 -93519487

Locus: 13q31.3

GPC6 Gene Summary

The glypicans comprise a family of glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored heparan sulfate proteoglycans, and they have been implicated in the control of cell growth and cell division. The glypican encoded by this gene is a putative cell surface coreceptor for growth factors, extracellular matrix proteins, proteases and anti-proteases. Mutations in this gene are associated with omodysplasia 1. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2016]

Gene Name: Glypican 6

Chromosome: CHR13: 93879077 -95060273

Locus: 13q31.3-q32.1
