HVCN1-GOLGA3 Fusion FISH Probe

The HVCN1-GOLGA3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the HVCN1 and GOLGA3 genes. The fusion of the HVCN1 and GOLGA3 genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GOLGA3 Gene Summary

The Golgi apparatus, which participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway, consists of a series of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are thought to be important for the reorganization of the Golgi after it fragments during mitosis. This gene encodes a member of the golgin family of proteins which are localized to the Golgi. Its encoded protein has been postulated to play a role in nuclear transport and Golgi apparatus localization. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]

Gene Name: Golgin A3

Chromosome: CHR12: 133345494 -133405288

Locus: 12q24.33

HVCN1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a voltage-gated protein channel protein expressed more highly in certain cells of the immune system. Phagocytic cells produce superoxide anions which require this channel protein, and in B cells this same process facilitates antibody production. This same channel protein, however, can also regulate functions in other cells including spermatozoa. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Gene Name: Hydrogen Voltage Gated Channel 1
