ICMT-GPR153 Fusion FISH Probe

The ICMT-GPR153 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ICMT and GPR153 genes. The fusion of the ICMT and GPR153 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ICMT Gene Summary

This gene encodes the third of three enzymes that posttranslationally modify isoprenylated C-terminal cysteine residues in certain proteins and target those proteins to the cell membrane. This enzyme localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum. Alternative splicing may result in other transcript variants, but the biological validity of those transcripts has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Isoprenylcysteine Carboxyl Methyltransferase

Chromosome: CHR1: 6281252 -6296044

Locus: 1p36.31

GPR153 Gene Summary

This gene encodes an integral membrane protein that belongs to the Class A rhodopsin superfamily of G protein coupled receptors. The encoded protein is expressed primarily in the central nervous system. A knockdown of the orthologous gene in rat is associated with a significant reduction in food intake and impaired decision making ability. Mutations in this gene are associated with schizophrenia, autism, and other neuropsychiatric disorders. The expression of this gene is activated by the glioma-associated oncogene homolog 1 transcription factor which, in turn, is activated by sonic hedgehog in normal and tumorigenic cells. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2017]

Gene Name: G Protein-coupled Receptor 153

Chromosome: CHR1: 6307405 -6321035

Locus: 1p36.31
