IL4I1-KCNQ2 Fusion FISH Probe

The IL4I1-KCNQ2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the IL4I1 and KCNQ2 genes. The fusion of the IL4I1 and KCNQ2 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

KCNQ2 Gene Summary

The M channel is a slowly activating and deactivating potassium channel that plays a critical role in the regulation of neuronal excitability. The M channel is formed by the association of the protein encoded by this gene and a related protein encoded by the KCNQ3 gene, both integral membrane proteins. M channel currents are inhibited by M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors and activated by retigabine, a novel anti-convulsant drug. Defects in this gene are a cause of benign familial neonatal convulsions type 1 (BFNC), also known as epilepsy, benign neonatal type 1 (EBN1). At least five transcript variants encoding five different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Potassium Voltage-gated Channel Subfamily Q Member 2

Chromosome: CHR20: 62037541 -62103993

Locus: 20q13.33

IL4I1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein with limited similarity to L-amino acid oxidase which contains the conserved amino acids thought to be involved in catalysis and binding of flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) cofactor. The expression of this gene can be induced by interleukin 4 in B cells, however, expression of transcripts containing the first two exons of the upstream gene is found in other cell types. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]

Gene Name: Interleukin 4 Induced 1

Chromosome: CHR19: 50392913 -50432762
