KCNH1-LPGAT1 Fusion FISH Probe

The KCNH1-LPGAT1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KCNH1 and LPGAT1 genes. The fusion of the KCNH1 and LPGAT1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

KCNH1 Gene Summary

Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, subfamily H. This member is a pore-forming (alpha) subunit of a voltage-gated non-inactivating delayed rectifier potassium channel. It is activated at the onset of myoblast differentiation. The gene is highly expressed in brain and in myoblasts. Overexpression of the gene may confer a growth advantage to cancer cells and favor tumor cell proliferation. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Potassium Voltage-gated Channel Subfamily H Member 1

Chromosome: CHR1: 210851656 -211307457

Locus: 1q32.2

LPGAT1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the lysophospholipid acyltransferase family. The encoded protein catalyzes the reacylation of lysophosphatidylglycerol to phosphatidylglycerol, a membrane phospholipid that is an important precursor for the synthesis of cardiolipin. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

Gene Name: Lysophosphatidylglycerol Acyltransferase 1

Chromosome: CHR1: 211916798 -212004114

Locus: 1q32.3
