KIF1B-UBE4B Fusion FISH Probe

The KIF1B-UBE4B Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KIF1B and UBE4B genes. The fusion of the KIF1B and UBE4B genes has been associated with Glioblastoma Multiforme, Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma, and Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

UBE4B Gene Summary

The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s. This gene encodes an additional conjugation factor, E4, which is involved in multiubiquitin chain assembly. This gene is also the strongest candidate in the neuroblastoma tumor suppressor genes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Ubiquitination Factor E4B

Chromosome: CHR1: 10093040 -10241296

Locus: 1p36.22

KIF1B Gene Summary

This gene encodes a motor protein that transports mitochondria and synaptic vesicle precursors. Mutations in this gene cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, type 2A1. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Kinesin Family Member 1B

Chromosome: CHR1: 10270763 -10441661
