KIF27-TRPM6 Fusion FISH Probe

The KIF27-TRPM6 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KIF27 and TRPM6 genes. The fusion of the KIF27 and TRPM6 genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

KIF27 Gene Summary

This gene is a member of the KIF27 (kinesin 4) sub-family of the mammalian kinesin family. The gene is an ortholog of the Drosophila Cos2 gene, which plays an important role in the Hedgehog signaling pathway. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal motor domain which includes nucleotide-binding and microtubule-interacting regions, a stalk domain containing a predicted coiled coil motif and a C-terminal tail domain. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. Pseudogenes associated with this gene are located on chromosome 9. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2012]

Gene Name: Kinesin Family Member 27

Chromosome: CHR9: 86451614 -86536342

Locus: 9q21.32

TRPM6 Gene Summary

This gene is predominantly expressed in the kidney and colon, and encodes a protein containing an ion channel domain and a protein kinase domain. It is crucial for magnesium homeostasis, and plays an essential role in epithelial magnesium transport and in the active magnesium absorption in the gut and kidney. Mutations in this gene are associated with hypomagnesemia with secondary hypocalcemia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010]

Gene Name: Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily M Member 6

Chromosome: CHR9: 77337410 -77503010

Locus: 9q21.13
