KLF5-SUPT16H Fusion FISH Probe

The KLF5-SUPT16H Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KLF5 and SUPT16H genes. The fusion of the KLF5 and SUPT16H genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

KLF5 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the Kruppel-like factor subfamily of zinc finger proteins. The encoded protein is a transcriptional activator that binds directly to a specific recognition motif in the promoters of target genes. This protein acts downstream of multiple different signaling pathways and is regulated by post-translational modification. It may participate in both promoting and suppressing cell proliferation. Expression of this gene may be changed in a variety of different cancers and in cardiovascular disease. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2013]

Gene Name: Kruppel Like Factor 5

Chromosome: CHR13: 73633141 -73651676

Locus: 13q22.1

SUPT16H Gene Summary

Transcription of protein-coding genes can be reconstituted on naked DNA with only the general transcription factors and RNA polymerase II. However, this minimal system cannot transcribe DNA packaged into chromatin, indicating that accessory factors may facilitate access to DNA. One such factor, FACT (facilitates chromatin transcription), interacts specifically with histones H2A/H2B to effect nucleosome disassembly and transcription elongation. FACT is composed of an 80 kDa subunit and a 140 kDa subunit; this gene encodes the 140 kDa subunit. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

Gene Name: SPT16 Homolog, Facilitates Chromatin Remodeling Subunit

Chromosome: CHR14: 21819630 -21852425

Locus: 14q11.2
