LARP1-MAFF Fusion FISH Probe

The LARP1-MAFF Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the LARP1 and MAFF genes. The fusion of the LARP1 and MAFF genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

LARP1 Gene Summary

The La Ribonucleoprotein Domain Family Member 1 (LARP1) gene is located on chr5 :154092461-154197163 at 5q33.2.

Gene Name: La Ribonucleoprotein Domain Family Member 1

Chromosome: CHR5: 154092461 -154197163

Locus: 5q33.2

MAFF Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor that lacks a transactivation domain. It is known to bind the US-2 DNA element in the promoter of the oxytocin receptor (OTR) gene and most likely heterodimerizes with other leucine zipper-containing proteins to enhance expression of the OTR gene during term pregnancy. The encoded protein can also form homodimers, and since it lacks a transactivation domain, the homodimer may act as a repressor of transcription. This gene may also be involved in the cellular stress response. Multiple transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

Gene Name: MAF BZIP Transcription Factor F

Chromosome: CHR22: 38597938 -38612517

Locus: 22q13.1
