MSH4-RABGGTB Fusion FISH Probe

The MSH4-RABGGTB Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MSH4 and RABGGTB genes. The fusion of the MSH4 and RABGGTB genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MSH4 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the DNA mismatch repair mutS family. This member is a meiosis-specific protein that is not involved in DNA mismatch correction, but is required for reciprocal recombination and proper segregation of homologous chromosomes at meiosis I. This protein and MSH5 form a heterodimer which binds uniquely to a Holliday Junction and its developmental progenitor, thus provoking ADP-ATP exchange, and stabilizing the interaction between parental chromosomes during meiosis double-stranded break repair. Gene Name: MutS Homolog 4

Chromosome: CHR1: 76262555 -76378923

Locus: 1p31.1

RABGGTB Gene Summary

This gene encodes the beta-subunit of the enzyme Rab geranylgeranyl-transferase (RabGGTase), which belongs to the protein prenyltransferase family. RabGGTase catalyzes the post-translational addition of geranylgeranyl groups to C-terminal cysteine residues of Rab GTPases. Three small nucleolar RNA genes are present in the intronic regions of this gene. Alternately spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. A pseudogene associated with this gene is located on chromosome 3. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]

Gene Name: Rab Geranylgeranyltransferase Beta Subunit
