MYCBP2-PIBF1 Fusion FISH Probe

The MYCBP2-PIBF1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MYCBP2 and PIBF1 genes. The fusion of the MYCBP2 and PIBF1 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

Turnaround Time: 7-10 Business Days    Shipping Time: 1-2 Day Expedited Shipping

PIBF1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein that is induced by the steroid hormone progesterone and plays a role in the maintenance of pregnancy. The encoded protein regulates multiple facets of the immune system to promote normal pregnancy including cytokine synthesis, natural killer (NK) cell activity, and arachidonic acid metabolism. Low serum levels of this protein have been associated with spontaneous pre-term labor in humans. This protein may promote the proliferation, migration and invasion of glioma. Gene Name: Progesterone Immunomodulatory Binding Factor 1

Chromosome: CHR13: 73356229 -73590591

Locus: 13q21.33-q22.1

MYCBP2 Gene Summary

This gene encodes an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase and member of the PHR (Phr1/MYCBP2, highwire and RPM-1) family of proteins. The encoded protein plays a role in axon guidance and synapse formation in the developing nervous system. In mammalian cells, this protein regulates the cAMP and mTOR signaling pathways, and may additionally regulate autophagy. Reduced expression of this gene has been observed in acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients and a mutation in this gene has been identified in patients with a rare inherited vision defect. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]

Gene Name: MYC Binding Protein 2, E3 Ubiquitin Protein Ligase

Chromosome: CHR13: 77618791 -77901177

Locus: 13q22.3
