PLTP-EEF2 Fusion FISH Probe

The PLTP-EEF2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PLTP and EEF2 genes. The fusion of the PLTP and EEF2 genes has been associated with Thymoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

EEF2 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the GTP-binding translation elongation factor family. This protein is an essential factor for protein synthesis. It promotes the GTP-dependent translocation of the nascent protein chain from the A-site to the P-site of the ribosome. This protein is completely inactivated by EF-2 kinase phosporylation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Eukaryotic Translation Elongation Factor 2

Chromosome: CHR19: 3976053 -3985461

Locus: 19p13.3

PLTP Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is one of at least two lipid transfer proteins found in human plasma. The encoded protein transfers phospholipids from triglyceride-rich lipoproteins to high density lipoprotein (HDL). In addition to regulating the size of HDL particles, this protein may be involved in cholesterol metabolism. At least two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Phospholipid Transfer Protein

Chromosome: CHR20: 44527258 -44541003

Locus: 20q13.12
