PPM1G-IFT172 Fusion FISH Probe

The PPM1G-IFT172 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PPM1G and IFT172 genes. The fusion of the PPM1G and IFT172 genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

PPM1G Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the PP2C family of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases. PP2C family members are known to be negative regulators of cell stress response pathways. This phosphatase is found to be responsible for the dephosphorylation of Pre-mRNA splicing factors, which is important for the formation of functional spliceosome. Studies of a similar gene in mice suggested a role of this phosphatase in regulating cell cycle progression. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010]

Gene Name: Protein Phosphatase, Mg2+/Mn2+ Dependent 1G

Chromosome: CHR2: 27604060 -27632496

Locus: 2p23.3

IFT172 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a subunit of the intraflagellar transport subcomplex IFT-B. Subcomplexes IFT-A and IFT-B are necessary for ciliary assembly and maintenance. Mutations in this gene have been associated with skeletal ciliopathies, with or without polydactyly, such as such short-rib thoracic dysplasias 1, 9 or 10. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]

Gene Name: Intraflagellar Transport 172

Chromosome: CHR2: 27667239 -27712571

Locus: 2p23.3
