PRR12-SYMPK Fusion FISH Probe

The PRR12-SYMPK Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PRR12 and SYMPK genes. The fusion of the PRR12 and SYMPK genes has been associated with Rectum Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

SYMPK Gene Summary

This gene encodes a nuclear protein that functions in the regulation of polyadenylation and promotes gene expression. The protein forms a high-molecular weight complex with components of the polyadenylation machinery. It is thought to serve as a scaffold for recruiting regulatory factors to the polyadenylation complex. It also participates in 3'-end maturation of histone mRNAs, which do not undergo polyadenylation. The protein also localizes to the cytoplasmic plaques of tight junctions in some cell types. Gene Name: Symplekin

Chromosome: CHR19: 46318699 -46366548

Locus: 19q13.32

PRR12 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a proline-rich protein that contains two A-T hook DNA binding domains. A chromosomal translocation and gene fusion between this gene and zinc finger, MIZ-type containing 1 (Gene ID: 57178) may underlie intellectual disability and neuropsychiatric problems in a human patient. Enriched expression of this gene in embryonic mouse brain suggests that this gene may play a role in nervous system development. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]
