QKI-PACRG Fusion FISH Probe

The QKI-PACRG Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the QKI and PACRG genes. The fusion of the QKI and PACRG genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma, Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Lung Adenocarcinoma, Breast Invasive Carcinoma, and Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

QKI Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is an RNA-binding protein that regulates pre-mRNA splicing, export of mRNAs from the nucleus, protein translation, and mRNA stability. The encoded protein is involved in myelinization and oligodendrocyte differentiation and may play a role in schizophrenia. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]

Gene Name: QKI, KH Domain Containing RNA Binding

Chromosome: CHR6: 163835674 -163999628

Locus: 6q26

PACRG Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein that is conserved across metazoans. In vertebrates, this gene is linked in a head-to-head arrangement with the adjacent parkin gene, which is associated with autosomal recessive juvenile Parkinson's disease. These genes are co-regulated in various tissues and they share a bi-directional promoter. Both genes are associated with susceptibility to leprosy. The parkin co-regulated gene protein forms a large molecular complex with chaperones, including heat shock proteins 70 and 90, and chaperonin components. This protein is also a component of Lewy bodies in Parkinson's disease patients, and it suppresses unfolded Pael receptor-induced neuronal cell death. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
