RACGAP1-CERS5 Fusion FISH Probe

The RACGAP1-CERS5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the RACGAP1 and CERS5 genes. The fusion of the RACGAP1 and CERS5 genes has been associated with Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma . These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

Turnaround Time: 7-10 Business Days    Shipping Time: 1-2 Day Expedited Shipping

RACGAP1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) that is a compoment of the centralspindlin complex. This protein binds activated forms of Rho GTPases and stimulates GTP hydrolysis, which results in negative regulation of Rho-mediated signals. This protein plays a regulatory role in cytokinesis, cell growth, and differentiation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. There is a pseudogene for this gene on chromosome 12. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

Gene Name: Rac GTPase Activating Protein 1

Chromosome: CHR12: 50382944 -50419307

Locus: 12q13.12

CERS5 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the TLC (TRAM, LAG1 and CLN8 homology domains) family of proteins. The encoded protein functions in the synthesis of ceramide, a lipid molecule that is involved in a several cellular signaling pathways. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]

Gene Name: Ceramide Synthase 5

Chromosome: CHR12: 50523580 -50561097

Locus: 12q13.12
