RANBP9-TXNDC5 Fusion FISH Probe

The RANBP9-TXNDC5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the RANBP9 and TXNDC5 genes. The fusion of the RANBP9 and TXNDC5 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

RANBP9 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein that binds RAN, a small GTP binding protein belonging to the RAS superfamily that is essential for the translocation of RNA and proteins through the nuclear pore complex. The protein encoded by this gene has also been shown to interact with several other proteins, including met proto-oncogene, homeodomain interacting protein kinase 2, androgen receptor, and cyclin-dependent kinase 11. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: RAN Binding Protein 9

Chromosome: CHR6: 13621729 -13711796

Locus: 6p23

TXNDC5 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the disulfide isomerase (PDI) family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins that catalyze protein folding and thiol-disulfide interchange reactions. The encoded protein has an N-terminal endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-signal sequence, three catalytically active thioredoxin domains and a C-terminal ER-retention sequence. Its expression is induced by hypoxia and its role may be to protect hypoxic cells from apoptosis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Read-through transcription also exists between this gene and the neighboring upstream BLOC1S5 gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2016]

Gene Name: Thioredoxin Domain Containing 5

Chromosome: CHR6: 7881482 -7911047

Locus: 6p24.3
