SETD5-LMCD1 Fusion FISH Probe

The SETD5-LMCD1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SETD5 and LMCD1 genes. The fusion of the SETD5 and LMCD1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

LMCD1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the LIM-domain family of zinc finger proteins. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal cysteine-rich domain and two C-terminal LIM domains. The presence of LIM domains suggests involvement in protein-protein interactions. The protein may act as a co-regulator of transcription along with other transcription factors. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]

Gene Name: LIM And Cysteine Rich Domains 1

Chromosome: CHR3: 8543510 -8609806

Locus: 3p25.3

SETD5 Gene Summary

This function of this gene has yet to be determined but based on sequence similarity to other SET domain proteins it may function as a histone methyltransferase. Mutations in this gene have been associated with an autosomal dominant form of intellectual disability. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017]
