SPATA5-CENPE Fusion FISH Probe

The SPATA5-CENPE Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SPATA5 and CENPE genes. The fusion of the SPATA5 and CENPE genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

CENPE Gene Summary

Centrosome-associated protein E (CENPE) is a kinesin-like motor protein that accumulates in the G2 phase of the cell cycle. Unlike other centrosome-associated proteins, it is not present during interphase and first appears at the centromere region of chromosomes during prometaphase. This protein is required for stable spindle microtubule capture at kinetochores which is a necessary step in chromosome alignment during prometaphase. This protein also couples chromosome position to microtubule depolymerizing activity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct protein isoforms. Gene Name: Centromere Protein E

Chromosome: CHR4: 104026962 -104119566

Locus: 4q24

SPATA5 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the ATPase associated with diverse activities family, whose members are defined by a highly conserved ATPase domain. Members of this family participate in diverse cellular processes that include membrane fusion, DNA replication, microtubule severing, and protein degradation. The protein encoded by this gene has a putative mitochondrial targeting sequence and has been proposed to function in maintenance of mitochondrial function and integrity during mouse spermatogenesis. Allelic variants in this gene have been associated with epilepsy, hearing loss, and cognitive disability syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
