SRCIN1-PCGF2 Fusion FISH Probe

The SRCIN1-PCGF2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SRCIN1 and PCGF2 genes. The fusion of the SRCIN1 and PCGF2 genes has been associated with Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

PCGF2 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene contains a RING finger motif and is similar to the polycomb group (PcG) gene products. PcG gene products form complexes via protein-protein interaction and maintain the transcription repression of genes involved in embryogenesis, cell cycles, and tumorigenesis. This protein was shown to act as a negative regulator of transcription and has tumor suppressor activity. The expression of this gene was detected in various tumor cells, but is limited in neural organs in normal tissues. Knockout studies in mice suggested that this protein may negatively regulate the expression of different cytokines, chemokines, and chemokine receptors, and thus plays an important role in lymphocyte differentiation and migration, as well as in immune responses. Role of MEL-18 Amplification in Anti-HER2 Therapy of Breast Cancer

HER2 is a receptor that can trigger oncogenic signals, which can be amplified in breast cancer. Under study was the connection between amplification of the MEL-18 gene and HER2-positive breast cancer. FISH analysis was used to verify the amplification of MEL-18. Our PCGF2 FISH probe was used to monitor the number of gene copies. It was determined that amplification of MEL-18 is a unique biomarker for HER2-positive breast cancer.
