ST3GAL2-COG4 Fusion FISH Probe

The ST3GAL2-COG4 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ST3GAL2 and COG4 genes. The fusion of the ST3GAL2 and COG4 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma, and Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

Turnaround Time: 7-10 Business Days    Shipping Time: 1-2 Day Expedited Shipping

ST3GAL2 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The encoded protein is normally found in the Golgi but can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form. This protein, which is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29, can use the same acceptor substrates as does sialyltransferase 4A. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: ST3 Beta-galactoside Alpha-2,3-sialyltransferase 2

Chromosome: CHR16: 70413337 -70472991

Locus: 16q22.1

COG4 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a component of an oligomeric protein complex involved in the structure and function of the Golgi apparatus. Defects in this gene may be a cause of congenital disorder of glycosylation type IIj. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]

Gene Name: Component Of Oligomeric Golgi Complex 4

Chromosome: CHR16: 70514471 -70557457

Locus: 16q22.1
