TRIM26-TJAP1 Fusion FISH Probe

The TRIM26-TJAP1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TRIM26 and TJAP1 genes. The fusion of the TRIM26 and TJAP1 genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

TRIM26 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The protein localizes to cytoplasmic bodies. Although the function of the protein is unknown, the RING domain suggests that the protein may have DNA-binding activity. The gene localizes to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I region on chromosome 6. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Gene Name: Tripartite Motif Containing 26

Chromosome: CHR6_qbl_hap6: 1445146 -1474192

Locus: 6p22.1

TJAP1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a tight junction-associated protein. Incorporation of the encoded protein into tight junctions occurs at a late stage of formation of the junctions. The encoded protein localizes to the Golgi and may function in vesicle trafficking. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. A related pseudogene exists on the X chromosome. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]

Gene Name: Tight Junction Associated Protein 1

Chromosome: CHR6: 43445260 -43474294
